Creekside has scored in every first quarter in every game this season except one. Ironiclly, their scoreless first quarter against Mandarin ended in a win.

Take 2 -Experience is the Best Teacher

For sophomore quarterback Jaden Weatherly, experience has been the best teacher. He was called upon to start for Bartram early in the season after starter Riley Trujillo was sidelined with an injury. During those games, Weatherly gained lots of experience in a game managing role that leaned heavily upon the run game. However, Friday against Creekside Weatherly would get another start due to a sidelined Trujillo, and he did much more than manage the game. Weatherly made crucial throws and runs in the game, passing for 178-yards, 2 touchdowns and finished with a102 Passer Rating.

Take 3-There Goes Garrido

Creekside running back Harrison Garrido had a fantastic game on the ground. He stated with a 70-yard run to set up Creekside’s first score. Yet he wasn’t finished, showing his speed and power on several runs including a 74-yarder up and down the field. In the end he’d have 22 carries for 214-yards and 2 touchdowns. He now has 750-yards and 9 touchdowns on the season.

Take 4-Creekside Defense

Creekside knew they’d have to stop Laython Biddle, and for all intense and purposes they did. The area’s leadign rusher with 1053 yards and 9 touchdowns was held to a modest 71-yards and 0 touchdowns. Creekside committed to stopping him and they did. Clayton Long #55 led the team with 12 tackles. Brody McGough #21 finished with 10 tackles and several tackles for loss. Colton Leavell #11 also had 10 tackles in the game.

Take 5-Improvisation And Involving Other

Others stepped up for Bartram with their starting QB out and starting runningback put in a wildcat situation. Joe Davoli #12, and Deandre Caldwell #82 benefited from the Knight’s commitment to stop the run. Davoli finished with 35-yards and a TD, while Caldwell caught 4 balls for 84-yards and a TD. Davoli’s touchdown pulled Bartram ahead for the first time in the game. Caldwell showcased his athleticism on his touchdown right out of halftime. Arthur Lewis was used as a rusher and a receiver scoring a touchdown on the ground.

Take 6- Making Plays When It Counts

Bartram’s defense was nothing to write home about in this game. However, when a big play was needed, the Bears responded. Nursing a 24-19 lead late in the fourth quarter, Creekside was mounting a drive to potentially take the lead. Instead, Bartram’s Julian Porter picked off a pass and took the inteterception back 35-yards for a touchdown. On the very next drive Caden Baldwin of Bartram stripped and recovered a fumble to seal the win.

Take 7 – The Bartram Blues

Creekside has only beaten Bartram once in the history of the two schools. With Bartram’s 31-19 win, they have won 9-straight against the Knights. Even with a new head coach at Bartram the blues keep on playing for Creekside. While the Blue keeps on winning for the Bears.
