Tis The Season For W’s As San Jose Prep Wins 7th Straight Game

San Jose Prep- Wednesday night brought a battle between San Jose Prep (7-2) and Oakleaf High School (2-9). San Jose Prep came out pressing at the beginning of the game and completely dominated, as they took a 10-0 lead causing Oakleaf to take a timeout early in the first quarter.

Unfortunately for the Lady Knights, that was the story for the whole game as Oakleaf seemed flat and didn’t have any energy. San Jose’s pressing and trapping defense took advantage as they never relinquished that double digit lead they built in the first quarter. The Storm defeated Oakleaf 64-37 to win their 7th consecutive game on the season.

San Jose had a balanced attack led by Sophomore Jazlynnn Curtis with 15 points and Junior Lamiyah Hogans with 14 points.   Also making contributions were Seniors Terrielle Clark with 9 points and Cameron Decosta with 10 points. The one bright spot for Oakleaf was Junior Tristan Brown, who managed to score 22 despite the tough defense from San Jose.

Things don’t get any easier for Oakleaf as they now go into the Fleming Island Christmas Tournament to play three straight games. The first of those three games was against Ribault where they fell 60-33. San Jose prep will also be in a Christmas tournament that begins on December 28th.  Location, time and opponent TBD. It’s a great start for head coach Qualisaya Howell of San Jose Prep. They have defeated good teams such like Ribault, FSU, and Mainland so far. They are setting the standard in girls basketball locally right now.
