Northeast Fl-In one of Northeast Florida’s most anticipated matchups of the 2025 season, the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets edged Bolles 40–35 in a dramatic finish at Skinner-Barco Stadium on Friday night. The game featured explosive plays from both sides, with both St. Augustine and Bolles stars stealing the spotlight. We spotlight several stars from the game in a series of stories. Our next story highlights St. Augustine’s Trendell Anderson and Bolles Xander Edwards.
The heavyweight showdown between Bolles and St. Augustine turned into a showcase of two dynamic playmakers—Bulldogs running back Xander Edwards and Yellow Jackets running back Trendell Anderson—as both left their fingerprints all over a thrilling 40-35 St. Augustine victory.

Early on, Anderson set up the Jackets with a long run into Bolles territory, then hauled in a spectacular touchdown catch from quarterback Brenton James late in the first half to extend the lead. Anderson showed his shiftiness and versatility all in one half, reinforcing his case as one of the most dangerous backs in the area.
Edwards, the explosive sophomore tailback, kept Bolles alive all night with his bruising runs and big-play ability. He tied the game 14-14 on a touchdown run where he yelled “they can’t stop me”. Those words rang true, as St. Augustine couldn’t stop the talented 2028 back.

Edwards sparked a momentum shift late in the second quarter with a long touchdown run of 70-ayrds that trimmed the Jackets’ lead to 28-21 before halftime. The score came off the heals of a St. Augustine touchdown by Anderson that silenced the home crowd. It was a play that his team desperately needed, which is why we call him “Clutch”.
In the second half, Edwards carried the Bulldogs on his back, finding seams behind his offensive line and breaking tackles for chunk gains. He tied the game in the third quarter with another burst up the middle, his third touchdown of the night.

Edwards later added critical yardage that set up a go-ahead strike to Naeem Burroughs in the fourth. Edwards finished with 248 rushing yards and three touchdowns, proving once again why he’s one of the area’s most exciting backs.
On the other sideline, Trendell Anderson matched Edwards’ brilliance with clutch play after clutch play. With Bolles surging in the second half, Anderson delivered again—this time breaking tackles and rolling into the end zone for the decisive fourth-quarter touchdown that lifted St. Augustine ahead for good.
Anderson totaled 122 total yards and two touchdowns, plus a game-winning run. He has broken the backs big time teams in Northeast Florida. And he added Bolles to that list Friday night. That’s why we call him “The Closer”.
In a back-and-forth battle, Edwards gave Bolles every chance to win, but Anderson’s timely heroics secured St. Augustine’s statement victory.
