St. Augustine Versus Bolles: Burroughs, Wingo, And Fordham Put On A Show

Jacksonville Fl- The rivalry showdown between St. Augustine and Bolles turned into a showcase of elite playmakers on the perimeter, with Somourian Wingo leading the Yellow Jackets to a dramatic 40-35 victory, while Bolles leaned on the explosive duo of Naeem Burroughs and Corbyn Fordham to nearly steal the game late.

For St. Augustine, senior wideout Somourian Wingo wasted no time setting the tone. He hooked up with quarterback Brenton James on two first-quarter touchdowns, displaying his speed and crisp route running to give the Jackets an early lead.

But perhaps Wingo’s biggest play came when he made a crucial third down catch, with his team trailing late in the 4th quarter to keep the drive alive. The subsequent score on the drive sealed the win and stamped his name on one of the rivalry’s most memorable finishes. He finished with 139 yards receiving two touchdown receptions, a key third-down conversion, and the game-saving defensive play.

On the other sideline, Bolles countered with the spectacular connection between quarterback Jaden Weatherly and his pair of Power 4–committed receivers. Naeem Burroughs, the Clemson pledge, electrified the home crowd with multiple highlight grabs, including a long first-quarter touchdown and a go-ahead fourth-quarter score that put Bolles in front 35-34.

He consistently stretched the defense, finishing with 187 receiving yards and two touchdowns. In a battle between the two best 2026 wide receivers in Northeast, Florida we came away with a draw as both Wingo, and Burroughs were clearly the best players on the field.

Meanwhile, Ohio State commit Corbyn Fordham provided the Bulldogs with a clutch deep threat. His 42-yard sideline grab in the final minute put Bolles in striking distance for a potential game-winner. Though a questionable holding call later erased his would-be touchdown, Fordham’s ability to rise in crucial moments nearly swung the outcome.

What makes all three special is their ability to play both ways, and their eagerness to do so for the team. Fordham lined up at defensive end to help collapse the pocket with fellow defensive-end 5-star Asher Ghioto (1 sack).

Burroughs lined up across from Wingo as a defensive back, to help attempt to slow the 4-star wide receiver down. While Wingo was called upon to line up at safety over top of the 4-star Burroughs on the final play of the game.

In a battle defined by star receivers, Wingo had the last word, guiding St. Augustine (3-0) past Bolles (2-1) in another classic.
