Sweetwater Enters the Zone Against Grandpark; Wins City Championship

Everbank Field- The Sweetwater Hawks defeated the Grandpark Trojans 20-7 to win the Pop Warner Pee Wee Division-I City Championship. Sweetwater came into the game 7-0 on the season and defeated Scott Park in the first round of the 2015 playoffs. After losing to Forestview in the first round of the playoffs last year, Sweetwater retooled this season with top notch talent to make a push for the championship.

Grandpark entered the game at 6-1 on the and season, and had no trouble with Mandarin in the first round of the 2015 playoffs. The previous year they fell to Westside in the first round of the playoffs, so this year they surpassed that mark with tremendous effort from the coaching staff and players. They would need another strong effort to win the championship against Sweetwater.

The game began with both teams feeling each other out. Both defenses were stout and made it hard for the opposing offenses to gain ground.

Sweetwater would strike first scoring the only touchdown of the first half to make it 6-0; the conversion was no good. In the second half Grand Park would turn up the pressure first on defense then on offense.

Burk with the strong touchdown run to give the Trojans the lead in the 3rd quarter 7-0. But the lead would not last long. On the ensuing drive Sweetwater responded in less than one minute thanks to a 60 yard touchdown run by RB #3 Doles. Doles would run the conversion in to make it 13-6. On the kickoff Grandpark would muff the kick off return and Sweetwater recovered at the Grandpark 20 yard line. At this point Sweetwater would enter the zone, where everything seemed to be clicking for them.

Sweetwater took just two plays to strike again as Doles sped to the endzone for the final score of the afternooon. Sweetwater wins 20-7
