Girls Softball: Englewood All Smiles Against Lee!!

Englewood High School

The first game of the 2014-2015 softball season seemed like mid-season form for the defending District Champion Englewood Rams. Englewood won 10-0 thanks to aggressiveness both at the plate and around the bases. Catcher Taylor Rouse and Short Stop Marisa Richardson led a complete team effort this afternoon, as the Rams played with enthusiasm and focus.2-11-15 012

Lee possessed the enthusiasm but seemed to lack the focus to respond to the early onslaught from Englewood. Their talent is unquestioned with leaders Rae Jones, Alisa Sweat, Donyetta Robinson Kennedy Pardee and Courtney Starkey on the team. The task for Head Coach Barrett of Lee will be to mesh the talents of his team to achieve a common goal of winning. “We have some really good players but have been at a disadvantage attempting to prepare for this game. They (Englewood) have a very good team and I wasn’t able to simulate this type of pitching speed to my team in practice”.  It may take some time to gel for the Generals but Coach Barrett seems determined to get them on the winning track.

As for Englewood and Coach Kacey Yourous, the sky is the limit for this talented team. ” I feel really good after this win and very optimistic about the outlook for our season” said Coach Yourous. She understands that as defending champions they will get everyone’s best each contest, something she and her team of play makers are certainly ready for.
