Terry Parker Gets Win Over Orange Park Despite 14 Point Deficit

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On January 21st, the Terry Parker Braves (9-9) took on the Orange Park Raiders (12-7) at home. Both teams were coming off of losses from Monday night and had something to prove.

            The Raiders went on a 14-0 run to begin the game. Sophomore shooting guard Josiah Sabino, had six of the Raiders 14 first quarter points. Senior guard Artis Maddox had all three of the Braves first quarter points. The final score after one, 14-3 Orange Park.

            The second quarter was more competitive as Terry Parker put together 12 points against Orange Park’s 14. The halftime score was 28-15 in favor of Orange Park. Sabino (Raiders) added four more points to his six first quarter points to be the leading scorer at halftime for both teams with 10.

            After a halftime locker room talk with Coach Elijah Wells of Terry Parker, the Braves came out and turned things around in the second half. In the third quarter Terry Parker won 14-7 thanks to junior center Nigel Burke. He went off for seven points to lead all scorers in the third quarter. The score after three was 35-29 in favor of Orange Park.

            The Braves came out in the fourth quarter hungry for a win. Terry Parker won the fourth quarter 22-10. Junior power forward Christopher Victor went off for his own seven points to help Burke (Braves) out. Victor was all over the court grabbing rebounds and converting them into points. Senior guard Jajuan Turner finished the game with six points but his most important points came with four minutes to play in the game when he put the Braves up one and they never surrendered the lead again.

Terry Parker wins 51-45. The Braves were led by Burke and Victor who had 12 & 11 points, respectively. Orange Park was led by Kadin Elmore and Sabino who had 14 & 13 points, respectively.

Terry Parker now prepares to take on Fletcher (8-9) in an away non-conference matchup on Friday January 24th while Orange Park prepares to take on Oakleaf (9-9) in an away non-conference rival matchup on Friday January 24th. Both games are set for a 7pm tip-off.
