St. Augustine Cooks Menendez As Dylan Cook Tosses 4 Touchdowns

St. Augustine Fl- With starting quarterback Locklan Hewlett sitting out the contest, St. Augustine’s Dylan Cook served up touchdowns to four different receivers as the Yellow Jackets defeated Menendez 44-6.

Cook began his night tossing a 29-yard touchdown pass to Carl Jenkins Jr. as St. Augustine went up 7-0 over Menendez early in the game.

Menendez would respond in the first quarter, when freshman Cash Downey saw his pass cashed in for a 30-yard touchdown reception by wide receiver Jason Watson. Downey’s long pass to Nate Carr set up the score later on the drive. The score remained 7-6 after a blocked PAT.

Unfortunately for Menendez that’s as high as they’d soar on the night, as St. Augustine served Falcon Friday night. Cook would cook up a nice play throwing back across field to Trenton Jones for his second touchdown of the night.

Leading 14-6 after the first quarter, St. Augustine’s Myles Simmons would catch the third touchdown pass from Cook of the half. Simmons reached the end-zone for the second time in three games, he now has 3 touchdown catches on the season.

St. Augustine would close out the half with a touchdown run by sophomore Trendell Anderson, who gallup for the 7-yard score to make it 28-6. Anderson got a great opportunity for playing time as St. Augustine’s Devonte Lyons sat out the contest as well.

St. Augustine’s defense completely stifled Menendez, as the Falcons couldn’t get much going after the big play by Watson.

This made way for senior Somourain Wingo, who would be the recepient of Cook’s fourth touchdown dish of the game. In an impressive feat, the senior Cook made his first ever start a memorable one. As he passed for 250-yards and 4 touchdowns leading St. Augustine to the win.

St. Augustine (3-0) will face Bartram Trail at home next week, while Menendez (1-3) hosts Ponte Vedra (2-1).
